THE WINNERS OF THE 14TH EDITION HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED

The XIV edition of the international contest “Fotografare il Parco” has just ended. It was organized by Stelvio, Gran Paradiso, Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise and de la Vanoise National Parks, with the patronage of Alparc, Federparchi and the participation of the media partner “La Rivista della Natura”.

Lello Piazza, the president of the jury, said: “In Italy, information deals only a little with Nature. This makes this competition, now in its XIV edition, even more valuable. This is because it shows to the public the beauty of the landscapes, the behaviour of animals and the colourful vegetation of three National Parks located in our country: Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise, Gran Paradiso and Stelvio, to which the cross-border Parc national de la Vanoise has to be added”.

From more than 3,300 images submitted, the jury’s choice awarded the first, second and third prizes to a number of exceptional shots: the tenderness of two young stoats playing with a flower (Overall winner - Valter Pallaoro), the New Wave of macro photography that transforms a young woman into a work of geometric abstraction (Second place - Giuseppe Bonali) and finally the landscape wilderness in the shot of Valle del Gallo in Stelvio National Park (Third place - Luca Ronchi).

Other prize-winners include the nocturnal encounter between a fox and a badger, first in the category “The Park Wildlife”, the difficult shot representing the giant peacock moth – a nocturnal butterfly – first in the category “The Park Microcosmos and Natural Details” and the rare encounter with a saxifrage during its maximum blossoming, third in the category “The Park Plant World”.

EVALUATION MEETING

We inform you that the jury meeting will take place on February, 12th. The winning photographs will be announced after  the eventually technical check.

A FEW DAYS LEFT...

...to participate in the contest.

The times are not very encouraging for photographing, to be sure, but in this difficult moment the beauty of nature and of our Parks can be the source of some comfort.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2020

We find even one of our most loyal participants of “Fotografare il Parco” among the winners of the 56th edition of
Wildlife Photographer of the Year, a “historic” photo contest dedicated to nature.

It is Lorenzo Shoubridge, whose spectacular photo of wolves was awarded the “Highly Commended” prize. The same image also won the
first prize in the “mammals” category of the Montphoto international photography contest.

We contacted him and he told us he is delighted with the prestigious result obtained, derived from his great passion for nature that found
in photography the way to realise his desire to collect evidence of the beauty of the natural world and to share it with other people.
Passion and “expertise”, as we say, for the realization of a shot dedicated to a couple of wolves, very charming animals,
depicted in their environment and in their daily life.

Our warmest congratulations to Lorenzo, and also to all the other photographers we know who, over the years, have honoured themselves
in the most important nature photography contest in the world.

Of course, we are waiting for you in “Fotografare il Parco”.

THE EMOTIONS CARRIED BY NATURE IN A SINGLE “CLICK”: THE CONTEST “FOTOGRAFARE IL PARCO” IS COMING BACK

The international competition “Fotografare il Parco”, that has become a traditional event for mountain photography lovers, is coming back again.

For the 14th time, photography lovers and tourists of the protected areas could confront each other with the shots dedicated to the nature of the Parks that organize the event. Landscapes, animals and plants of the Stelvio, Gran Paradiso, Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise and de la Vanoise National Parks thus become the protagonists of the competition, supported by the patronage of Alparc (Network of Alpine Protected Areas) and Federparchi.

Given the inevitable delays following the health emergency, the deadline for participation is this year postponed to November 30, 2020. Beautiful seasons are waiting for us, from now until almost the first snow, so as you could venture on the paths of the Parks with the camera around your neck.

However, it is not only an opportunity to test your photographic skills, it is also a way to collaborate with us. Many of the images presented in the competition, fundamental to convey the beauty and the complexity of the protected areas, will be displayed – even if they will not be rewarded. They could actually be used in our communication campaigns, helping us to increase interest and attention towards mountain nature, its vulnerability and the importance of its conservation.

FOTOGRAFARE IL PARCO is coming back!

Only a few days and we will publish the rules for the new edition!

ALWAYS THE AWARDS CEREMONY, BUT… AT A DISTANCE

This year the situation does not allow us to carry out “physically” the traditional awards ceremony of the competition. Given the difficult moment we are facing, it is very sad but it is the right thing to do.

However, we do not want to give up the opportunity to show you, as we would have done during the ceremony, the photographers who won the prizes for this thirteenth edition.

We think that it would be the best recognition for their ability to translate into images the beauty of our Parks.

And we do believe it is important to remember that, beyond the photos you often see on our medias, there are people who love nature and photography. Two of the most beautiful passions ever.

But, for us, the awards ceremony is also something more. It is a way of showing our great appreciation for all those people who took part. Through our winners, we want to recognize all the participants the value of putting themselves out there, of having accepted to deal with many other photographers.

We want to acknowledge their great value of having paused, to observe the beauty of our protected areas, and then take a photo. It is this attention, this curiosity that rewards our commitment to preserving our extraordinary heritage.

It is also the acknowledgment of the great value that photos, whether rewarded or not, have in our work of spreading knowledge about the Parks. The photos, submitted in the competition, are a very important means to make our territories more and more appreciated and to bring other people closer to our heritage.

So, thanks once again to all those people who sent their photos, and we really hope to meet you in person for sharing our common passions. Meanwhile, we are glad to introduce you the winners of the thirteenth edition of “Fotografare il Parco”.
